Part I: Incidence and Risk
This section of the module presents an overview of breast cancer-related disparities faced by women with disabilities, including the finding that they are one-third more likely to die from the disease. The reasons for these disparities are explored. Risk assessment and risk-reduction strategies are also discussed, including the special issues these strategies raise for women with disabilities. The section concludes with a discussion of how clinicians can help their patients with disabilities adopt more healthful lifestyles and reduce their risk of breast cancer.
